The lowkey poke joint

Really disappointed to leave this review as this used to be my go-to Poke spot that I would tell all my friends about. Unfortunately I tried going on New Years Eve and had a bad experience that will ultimately tarnish my relationship with this establishment. Knowing it was New Years Eve, I figured their hours may differ from their normal hours. At 2:45pm, I called to see what time they would be closing. A female worker answered the phone and told me they would be closing at 3:30. I jumped in my car and headed straight over there to pick up my order in time. I arrived to the restaurant at 3:03pm and witnessed one of the girls lock the exit door. I went to the entrance door to enter the establishment, but it was already locked. I saw people still ordering their meals at the counter and quickly called their number to see if I could place my order. The female answered the phone again, but informed me that they are now closed. I told her that I just called and they said they would be open until 3:30, to which her only response was “sorry”. There were still people ordering at the counter when I arrived, so I know they still had all their food out, but they were still unwilling to serve me. I get that the staff wants to go home to celebrate the holiday, but it is a true shame that they would be willing to waist 30 minutes of my time(drive there and back from my house), and not 5 extra minutes of their time, even after telling me that they would still be open over the phone. The food is good, but it doesn’t seem like they value their customers too much.

This is an honest review. This place gets a 4.8/5. **Update - actually gets a perfect 5.0. They weigh the protein if you ask, and they pick up the phone if they are not busy This place consistently does not miss. Each time it’s up to my expectations. Meet is fresh. Sides taste good. At this point I don’t even feel like trying new spots just to be dissatisfied. I’ll just keep coming here. ** — (Old review) 0.1 deduction for never picking up their phone. But in my mind, it’s probably because all the workers are busy. 0.1 deduction for not having the calories listed in the menu. If they counted the calories and the macros, health conscientious people would be coming here more often. Even better if they weighed the protein on a scale so you know exactly how much you’re getting. On to the review. As of right now, I am certain this is the best spot in the IE. Recently I have tried many spots, and for some reason they don’t compare. Either the food isn’t fresh, or the food is fresh but the portions are small for the price. As of right now, low key poke is the forerunner that’s leading in the market, as they have the most portions you’ll get for your money, all while having fresh fish. This is exactly why I’ll be returning here and being a regular.

Unfortunately the worst Poke bowl I’ve ever had. First of all how is Avacodo considered a protein?? That should be a topping. So I ordered the 3 protein and basically only got two fish options. That was a bummer. Over all the mix of fish to other options is just off. No balance in flavor. They don’t help you making sure you order something delicious. Overall unhappy with flavor here. And corn just doesn’t mix well.

I am usually a little full when I am here. So I never notice how little fish you get. One time I was really hungry. I notice that again I still have 1/4 of rice left but no fish . I also have almost as much avocado as fish serving which I kid $1.50 for. Kinda sad the fish is almost less than avocado (if you remove all the topping). For almost $15-$20 I feel kinda rip off for how little fish you get. They also have very few veggie. All I got was onion and corn. There wasn’t much else. The unique rice was so tasty but lack of fish and topping really bring the place down. The Poke Bar in San Bernardino is so much better. You get way more fish and veggie for your money.
